Burney Raiders online
Bullying Project
The BurneyRaiders.org students put together a bullying project. We sent out bully surveys to the students and the teachers. The majority of the students admitted that they had been bullied before and/or have bullied someone. Most of the surveys said that bullying occurred in the junior high level. The most popular type of bullying is verbal abuse.
Winter Carnival
Our school looks forward to our Winter Carnival. So, in order to pump
everyone up, we had a rally. At the rally we listened to coach give a great
speech, watched our cheerleaders, and competed in a boys vs. girls cheer
competition. Each class also donated to the Pennies for Patients fund.
Thank you everyone who donated!
Lots of Basketball
Every year it is a tradition to invite Fall River’s basketball teams from junior high to varsity boys to play us all in one day. This year Fall River beat most of the Burney basketball teams, with the exception of 7th grade boys and JV girl’s teams. Congratulations to all of the teams and good luck the rest of the season!
Winter Olympics
In the past years at BHS before students go on their winter break we would have a lip syncing contest. But this year our spirit commissioner and leadership class decided to change things up and try something different that would get more students involved in the rallies. One day we watched an episode of "The Office" and got the idea of the winter olympics. Some of the games that were included were: ice dancing, candy cane relay, speed skating, basketball relay, snowflake to snowball relay. The classes formed teams for the events and had team uniforms. It turned out to be a big success and a lot of fun. We hope to continue it next year!
The B-Ball Rap
Leadership students can get a little creative and silly at times. Here are two of our varsity basketball players in leadership showing off some of their sweet talents during our Burney Jamboree.
Renaissance Assembly
Every Semester, our school has a Renaissance assembly to recognize kids that do academically well, who are involved in the community, and who are involved throughout the school. This video has some clips of our last Renaissance event. This semester, Mr. Pusch, the school's Student Activities Director, put on Renaissance for the first time. We'd like to thank all the sponsors and people who helped out!
Saving The World: Part 1
The leadership class did a little problem solving one day. They had to figure out how to save themselves from a chemical that would harm them in a few different ways. The film describes more, and it shows how both teams tried to save the people in their group. We hope it's interesting for you to watch!
Around Campus
This was our first video that we made in our leadership class. Craig came to us with the idea of videotaping things around our campus just to see what things were like. We were just experimenting with the camera; it was our first time using it. We went around Burney High School's campus and asked people questions and talked to some of our staff. We just videotaped random things all over our school. It was a fun little project to get our videotaping projects started! Not many people know what all Burney High's leadership class does, so this is our chance to tell you. We all try to work as a group or in little groups to build our leadership skills. We help our activities director with anything he needs, like renaissance. We help on our school's picture days. We order the Raider Wear that is open for anyone to buy at sports games. We put up posters all around our school, organize homecoming and winter carnival weeks, and help put on rallies. A lot of projects get left up to us, such as the Constitution Day we put on to educate our fellow students about the constitution. We also write our school newspaper. We are never left with nothing to do and are always working to make our school a better place!
